Responsibilities

Role Purpose:
This role serves as the primary strategic HR partner to designated APAC business units and corporate functions and acts as a trusted deputy to the Head of Human Resources, APAC. The incumbent will play a critical role in shaping and executing the regional people agenda, providing seasoned judgment on complex HR matters, and ensuring alignment between business strategy, global HR frameworks, and local legal and regulatory requirements. 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Strategic Business Partnering 
    • Act as a senior HR advisor to regional and local leadership teams, developing a deep understanding of business strategy, operating models, and workforce implications across APAC. 
    • Translate business objectives into clear, pragmatic people strategies that drive organisational effectiveness, capability, and growth. 
    • Support the Head of Human Resources, APAC, in the execution of regional HR priorities, acting as a delegate where appropriate and providing thought leadership on people-related risks and opportunities. 
  • Leadership & Collaboration Across HR 
    • Partner closely with HR Centres of Excellence—including Talent Acquisition, Talent Management & Development, Reward, and HR Operations—to ensure integrated and high-quality delivery of HR solutions across the employee lifecycle. 
    • Contribute to and influence regional and global HR initiatives, ensuring they are fit-for-purpose for local markets while aligned with global HR strategy. 
  • Specifically, this includes contributing to: 
    • Attraction of talent: Developing and executing effective, creative, and cost-conscious recruitment strategies to attract high-quality talent in competitive markets. 
    • Talent management: Driving performance management, development, and succession planning activities to build strong internal pipelines. 
    • Reward: Supporting competitive, market-aligned compensation and benefits strategies in partnership with the Reward team. 
    • Policy & governance: Ensuring HR policies, processes, and practices are current, consistent, and compliant with local employment laws and regulatory requirements. 
    • Insights & data: Providing relevant people analytics and management information (e.g. headcount, attrition, compensation data) to support informed business decision‑making. 
  • Employee Relations & Workforce Management 
    • Provide expert advice to managers on complex employee relations matters, including performance, capability, conduct, grievances, and investigations, exercising sound judgment and escalating to the Head of Human Resources, APAC where appropriate. 
    • Lead or support restructurings, reorganisations, redundancies, and exits, ensuring alignment with business objectives, local legislation, and market best practice. 
    • Act as a steady, credible presence during sensitive workforce situations, balancing commercial realities with employee experience and risk management. 
  • HR Operations & Employment Governance 
    • Ensure accuracy, consistency, and legal compliance of employment documentation, including offer letters and employment contracts, coordinating closely with the Head of Human Resources, APAC and internal/external legal counsel on bespoke or non-standard arrangements. 
    • Oversee effective management of employee movements (joiners, leavers, transfers, promotions), ensuring appropriate approvals and adherence to HR policies. 
    • Ensure timely and accurate provision of employee data to payroll and conduct robust month-end payroll reviews. 
  • Reward, Performance & Analytics 
    • Partner with the Reward team to support annual benchmarking, job matching, and market pricing activities for the relevant employee population. 
    • Contribute to the delivery of the annual compensation review process, balancing market data, internal equity, performance outcomes, and HR policy. 
    • Review and analyse workforce metrics (e.g. headcount, attrition, retention, engagement) to identify trends and recommend targeted interventions. 
  • Talent Development & Engagement 
    • In partnership with the Talent Management & Development team, proactively identify opportunities to strengthen capability, career development, and internal mobility across the region. 
    • Advise on initiatives that support employee engagement, wellbeing, inclusion, and sustainable performance. 
  • Projects & Regional Initiatives 
    • Lead or contribute to regional and global HR projects as required (e.g. workforce planning, organisational design, engagement surveys, return‑to‑office strategies, diversity and inclusion initiatives). 
    • Serve as a role model for strong HR business partnering, mentoring junior HR colleagues where appropriate. 

 

Qualifications

Experience & Capability:  

  • Significant experience as a HR Business Partner within a complex, matrixed organisation, preferably in financial services or a regulated environment. 
  • Strong working knowledge of APAC employment legislation and cultural nuances across multiple geographies 
  • Demonstrated ability to influence senior stakeholders, manage ambiguity, and operate with credibility as a “trusted advisor.” 
  • Commercially astute, analytically strong, and comfortable balancing strategic work with hands‑on execution when required.
