Position Purpose: This role sits within the LATAM engineering group, working on mission-critical systems: order routing and trade capture, exchange and clearinghouse integrations (B3, CME, local CSDs), post-trade processing, regulatory reporting, and client-facing platforms. You will be a senior individual contributor with strong ownership over design and delivery, partnering directly with trading, operations, compliance, and global engineering teams.

Responsibilities

Design, build, and operate scalable, resilient, low-latency-tolerant systems that support StoneX's LATAM business lines. The role exists to raise the engineering bar on regional platforms, improving reliability, reducing manual operational load, and delivering the integrations and features required by local market structure and regulation, while aligning to StoneX global architecture standards.

Primary duties will include:

  • Design and implement backend services and APIs supporting trading, clearing, settlement, and reporting workflows for LATAM markets.
  • Own features end to end: requirements refinement with business stakeholders, technical design, implementation, testing, deployment, and production support.
  • Build and maintain integrations with exchanges, clearinghouses, market data providers, and internal global platforms (FIX, REST, messaging, file-based protocols).
  • Develop data pipelines and reconciliation processes feeding regulatory and internal reporting (CVM/B3, CNBV, and equivalents).
  • Contribute to architecture decisions and technical documentation (ADRs, runbooks, integration specs); evaluate trade-offs on build vs. buy and global vs. regional solutions.
  • Improve observability, automated testing, and CI/CD maturity across owned services; reduce toil through automation.
  • Participate in code reviews and set standards for code quality, security, and performance within the team.
  • Support incident response for production systems, including root-cause analysis and preventive follow-up.
  • Mentor mid-level and junior engineers; act as technical reference for a domain or set of services.
  • Coordinate with distributed teams across the US, UK, and Asia; including working across time zones and in English.
  • This list of duties and responsibilities is not intended to be all-inclusive and can be expanded to include other duties or responsibilities that management deems necessary.

Qualifications

To land this role you will need:

  • Professional software engineering experience, with demonstrated senior-level ownership of production systems.
  • Strong proficiency in at least one of: C#/.NET, Java, or Python; solid working knowledge of a second language.
  • Solid grounding in SQL and relational databases (SQL Server, PostgreSQL, or Oracle), including query tuning and data modeling.
  • Experience designing and consuming APIs and integrating distributed systems; familiarity with messaging/streaming (Kafka, RabbitMQ, MQ) and event-driven patterns.
  • Cloud experience (AWS or Azure) and containerization (Docker, Kubernetes).
  • Practical experience with CI/CD, version control (Git), automated testing, and monitoring/observability tooling.
  • Professional working proficiency in English (written and spoken); fluent Portuguese and/or Spanish.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.

Preferred

  • Financial services or capital markets background, brokerage, clearing, asset management, exchange, or fintech.
  • Domain knowledge of trading lifecycle, post-trade operations, market data, or risk; familiarity with FIX protocol.
  • Exposure to LATAM market structure and regulation: B3, CVM, ANBIMA, SELIC/CETIP, CNBV, or local payments/settlement rails.
  • Experience with regulatory or financial reporting pipelines and data reconciliation at scale.
  • Infrastructure-as-code (Terraform), and performance/latency-sensitive system design.
  • Experience working in a global matrixed organization with offshore/nearshore delivery models.

Working environment:

  • Salary to be determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills and abilities of the applicant, internal equity and alignment with market data.
  • Full time (Monday to Friday), with an indefinite contract.
  • Hybrid setting: 4 days in-office and 1 day from home.
