Job Purpose:

We are seeking an experienced Software Application Support Engineer and Level 3 Engineer to join our Payments Technology team. This role is suited for a hands-on engineer who can develop and enhance mission-critical payment applications, provide deep technical ownership for complex production issues, and drive continuous improvement through automation, cloud engineering, and AI-enabled solutions. The successful candidate will work across application development, L3 incident/problem resolution, platform reliability, and intelligent automation to help build scalable, resilient, and future-ready payment platforms.

Primary duties will include:

Application Development & Engineering:

• Design, develop, enhance, and maintain enterprise-grade payment applications using Java/.NET and modern engineering practices.
• Build and support APIs, integrations, and application services that enable secure and reliable payment processing.
• Participate across the software development lifecycle including requirement analysis, solution design, coding, testing, release support, and post-implementation validation.
• Collaborate with architects, product owners, business stakeholders, and support teams to deliver scalable, resilient, and maintainable technology solutions.

Level 3 Problem Resolution:

• Provide Level 3 technical ownership for complex issues across payment applications, databases, integrations, APIs, and cloud-hosted services.
• Lead deep-dive troubleshooting, root cause analysis, defect identification, and permanent fix implementation for recurring or high-impact incidents.
• Work closely with development and operations teams to resolve code-level, configuration, performance, and data-related issues.
• Support major incident restoration activities while ensuring long-term corrective actions are delivered through engineering improvements.

AI Development & Intelligent Automation:

• Identify, design, and develop AI-enabled solutions that improve application support, incident analysis, operational efficiency, and knowledge discovery.
• Contribute to Generative AI and Agentic AI use cases such as support assistants, automated RCA summaries, log analysis, alert correlation, and intelligent ticket triage.
• Use AI tools and frameworks to accelerate development, improve code quality, enhance documentation, and reduce manual support effort.
• Partner with technology teams to embed AI-driven insights and automation into payment application support and engineering workflows.

Cloud Engineering & Platform Reliability:

• Support, enhance, and troubleshoot applications hosted on Azure and related cloud platforms.
• Work with cloud-native services, containers, Kubernetes, monitoring, logging, and deployment automation to improve reliability and operational readiness.
• Contribute to performance tuning, resilience improvements, security compliance, disaster recovery readiness, and cloud cost optimization.

DevOps, Automation & Continuous Improvement:

• Develop automation scripts and tools using Python, PowerShell, or similar technologies to reduce manual effort and improve response times.
• Support CI/CD pipelines, release validation, environment automation, and deployment governance for payment applications.
• Drive shift-left improvements by converting recurring support issues into permanent engineering fixes, automation, monitoring enhancements, or knowledge articles.

ITIL Process Adherence:

• Ensure compliance with ITIL processes, particularly Incident Management and Problem Management, to ensure service continuity and minimize downtime.
• Contribute to the implementation and improvement of ITIL best practices within the organization.

Documentation & Reporting:

• Maintain accurate records of incidents, problems, changes, and resolutions.
• Generate and analyze reports on service performance, identifying trends and opportunities for improvement.

To land this role you will need:

• Strong hands-on experience in application development using Java or .NET, with the ability to understand, debug, enhance, and support enterprise applications.
• Experience supporting mission-critical applications at Level 3, including code-level troubleshooting, RCA, defect resolution, and production stability improvements.
• Working knowledge of payment applications, APIs, integrations, transaction processing, or financial services technology would be highly valuable.
• Database experience with MongoDB and SQL, including query analysis, stored procedures, performance troubleshooting, and data issue investigation.
• Hands-on experience with Azure or other major cloud platforms, including application hosting, monitoring, security, and infrastructure troubleshooting.
• Experience with automation and scripting using Python, PowerShell, or similar tools.
• Understanding of DevOps, CI/CD, observability, logging, monitoring, and incident tracking tools.
• Good understanding of ITIL practices, particularly Incident Management, Problem Management, Change Management, and Knowledge Management.
• Exposure to AI, Generative AI, Agentic AI, Azure AI Services, OpenAI, AI-assisted development, prompt engineering, or intelligent automation use cases.

What will make you stand out:

• Experience building AI-powered tools, support assistants, knowledge bots, or automation workflows for application support and engineering teams.
• Experience with payment platforms, SWIFT, ISO 20022, transaction monitoring, reconciliation, or financial messaging systems.
• Hands-on exposure to Kubernetes, Rancher, ServiceNow, Azure monitoring, or enterprise observability platforms.
• Ability to convert recurring production issues into engineering backlog items, automation opportunities, or platform reliability improvements.
• Strong ownership mindset with the ability to work across development, operations, architecture, business, and global support teams.

Certifications (Good To Have):

• Cloud certifications (Foundational or Intermediate).
• ITIL certification (ITIL Foundation or higher).
