Overview

StoneX Group Inc. is a Fortune 100 global financial services firm connecting clients to markets across asset classes and geographies. Our technology underpins trading, clearing, and settlement at scale — where reliability, performance, and security are non-negotiable. Our Bangalore office is a strategic engineering and operations hub, and this role sits at the center of how we keep a global, follow-the-sun infrastructure running.

We are seeking a Director of Infrastructure Operations, based in Bangalore, to lead the teams responsible for the core compute, operating systems, and database platforms that power StoneX globally. Reporting to the Head of Infrastructure, you will own the reliability, performance, and resilience of infrastructure that spans multiple regions and runs 24/7 in a demanding, low-latency financial environment. You will lead a distributed group of managers and engineers across Database Operations, Systems Operations, and Linux Engineering, partnering closely with security, networking, and application teams.

This is a senior leadership role with global scope and high visibility — offering the chance to shape StoneX's infrastructure leadership presence in Bangalore, tackle performance and resilience challenges at a level few environments demand, and grow alongside senior technology leadership.

Responsibilities

The Director of Infrastructure Operations is accountable for the stability, scalability, and security of StoneX's global infrastructure platforms. Key responsibilities include:

  • Lead globally distributed teams across Database Operations, Systems/Server Operations, and Linux Engineering — setting direction, developing managers, and building a high-performing, accountable engineering culture.
  • Own infrastructure reliability and performance for mission-critical, 24/7 trading and back-office systems, with clear SLAs, error budgets, and measurable uptime targets.
  • Drive modernization and automation — reduce toil through infrastructure-as-code and self-healing systems; advance cloud and hybrid strategies.
  • Establish operational excellence — mature incident, problem, and change management; lead major-incident response and blameless post-incident reviews; eliminate recurring failure modes.
  • Strengthen security and compliance in partnership with InfoSec — patching, hardening, access governance, and audit readiness across a regulated financial environment.
  • Manage capacity, lifecycle, and cost across data centers and cloud — forecasting, OS/hardware refresh cycles, and right-sizing for performance and spend.
  • Partner cross-functionally with networking, application engineering, and DBAs to deliver infrastructure that enables product and trading initiatives.
  • Grow the Bangalore engineering hub — build regional capability, talent, and ownership within a seamless follow-the-sun global operating model.

Qualifications

Experience & Leadership

  • 12+ years in IT infrastructure / systems engineering, with 5+ years leading teams — including leading managers (leaders of leaders).
  • Proven track record running mission-critical, high-availability production environments, ideally in financial services, trading, or another low-latency / regulated industry.
  • Experience leading distributed, multi-region teams in a global, follow-the-sun operating model.

Technical Depth

  • Strong command of Linux engineering and administration at enterprise scale (RHEL or equivalent).
  • Solid grounding in database operations (e.g., SQL Server, Oracle, PostgreSQL) and systems/server operations across hybrid data-center and cloud environments.
  • Hands-on familiarity with automation and IaC (Ansible, Terraform), observability/monitoring, and modern incident management practices.
  • Working knowledge of cloud platforms (Azure / AWS) and virtualization.

Leadership Competencies

  • A builder of people and teams who coaches managers, raises the hiring bar, and creates clarity and accountability.
  • Calm and decisive under pressure during major incidents; outcomes-driven and process-anchored.
  • Excellent communicator, able to move fluidly between deep technical detail and executive stakeholders.

Education & Certifications (Preferred)

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
  • Relevant certifications such as RHCE, cloud architect/engineer, or ITIL are a plus.
