Position Purpose:

To ensure that fraud screening is effective and in line with firm's financial crime framework and programme, ensuring high standards for operational efficiency and risk appetite are maintained. Supporting the firm in enhancing its overall fraud screening capabilities across the entire business as a key priority. 

Responsibilities

  • Support the implementation of new fraud detection systems and the optimization of existing solutions to ensure an appropriate balance between client experience and security.
  • Assist in developing rules by analysing data to identify fraud indicators, constructing and testing rules within data environments, and facilitating their deployment into rule engines.
  • Proactively review available data to identify potential risks that are not currently active but could present future threats to the business.
  • Generate performance metrics for both rules and systems to verify they operate within established tolerances, and provide KPI monitoring for first line of defense (1LoD) teams, highlighting opportunities for improvement through data analysis.
  • Develop and maintain dashboards that reflect the performance of all areas of fraud as they are incorporated into the FCP Fraud team.
  • Provide support for internal and external, overt and covert fraud investigations by collaborating with investigators to identify fraudulent patterns, evidence, and investigative leads.
  • Support audits—whether internal, external, or client-driven—by compiling relevant data and reports to address requirements or inquiries.
  • Serve as a liaison between the FCP Fraud team and various data teams across the company.
  • Collaborate with fellow FCP team specialists and other teams globally across the organization.

Qualifications

Knowledge and Experience

  • Demonstrated expertise in data analysis and interrogation utilizing tools such as SQL and Excel, with the ability to derive actionable and reliable insights even when working with incomplete datasets.
  • Proficient in the use of data visualization platforms, including PowerBI.
  • Skilled in presenting data-driven narratives to diverse audiences, ranging from peers and colleagues to C-suite executives and regulatory authorities.
  • Extensive experience in fraud and financial crime mitigation or investigation roles, with a thorough understanding of fraud indicators and their representation within data.
  • Familiarity with fraud mitigation systems such as CGI, Braintree, Nuvei, ThreatMetrix, or comparable solutions.
  • Capable of independently uncovering fraud trends, identifying both current and emerging risks through the analysis of complex data sets.
  • Experienced in handling sensitive information, including financial transactions, internal investigations, and audit processes.
  • Eager to contribute to the establishment and growth of a new fraud team in a dynamic and complex business environment.
  • Fluent in both spoken and written English.

 

Qualification and Skills

  • Strong understanding of fraud prevention requirements in regulated financial institutions
  • Excellent critical thinking, with the ability to analyse situations and solve problems, delivering practical and compliant financial crime prevention risk management whilst balancing customer experience.
  • Formal Fraud Certification (CFE, ACFS, CFRM, ACAMS or similar)
  • Knowledge of fraud regulatory reporting and regulatory operations
