Position Purpose:

Reporting to the CDO, this role will drive the creation and execution of policies, standards, and controls that ensure trusted, compliant, and secure data usage—across internal domains and external partnerships. You'll work cross-functionally with Cybersecurity, TPRM (Third-Party Risk Management), Legal, Privacy, Risk, and Platform teams, and help build scalable governance with a strong focus on data and AI governance.

This role will be responsible for creating the policies, roadmap, and control structure that effectively manage cost and risk while setting the foundation to unlock the full value of data—enabling growth, operational speed, and margin expansion.

Primary duties will include:

  • Design and implement a data governance framework and operating model that balances control and enablement.

  • Develop policies around data quality, classification, access, retention, and AI/ML usage.

  • Collaborate with Cybersecurity and TPRM to govern entitlements, third-party sharing, and risk controls.

  • Lead AI governance efforts to ensure responsible use of models and training data.

  • Partner with architecture, platform and engineering teams to operationalize governance using tools like Unity Catalog (Databricks) and enterprise data catalogs.

  • Drive adoption of metadata management, lineage, and stewardship practices.

  • Establish mechanisms that optimize data usage for business growth while maintaining cost efficiency and compliance.

  • Support audit readiness, regulatory compliance, and data ethics initiatives.

  • Build and grow a lean, high-impact governance team over time.

To land this role you will need:

  • 10+ years in data governance, data management, or related roles.
  • Deep understanding of data privacy, security, and regulatory frameworks.

  • Familiarity with Unity Catalog (Databricks), Alation, Microsoft Purview, or similar tools.

  • Experience operationalizing AI/ML governance in business or regulatory contexts.

  • Strong ability to navigate cross-functional environments and influence without authority.

Education:

  • Master’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Analytics, or closely related field and three (5) years of experience as Technology Lead or Technology Project Manager.

Working environment:
