Business Segment Overview 

 

Commercial: With boots on the ground authenticity at the heart of everything we do, our comprehensive array of commercial products and services enable you to work directly with our clients, across hedging, risk management, execution and clearing, OTC products, commodity finance and more.

 

Position Purpose:

The Junior Trader (Coffee) will be responsible for providing support as a first step to the trading team. In addition, you will have to learn all the aspects of coffee specifications and trading so that at a later stage you will be able to take part as a second in either buying or selling markets. This position requires patience and a strong team spirit, as well as the ability to listen and understand the different aspects of the business.

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities will include: 

 

  • Improving physical Robusta and Arabica trading tools.
  • Understanding of hedging and pricing mechanisms,
  • Brazil and East Africa qualities knowledge and cupping experience,
  • Understanding and maintenance of accurate costings,
  • Execute coffee sales under senior traders’ guides,
  • Drive sales by proposing, planning, and implementing new trade flows,
  • Maintain relationships with key customers through regular calls and meeting,
  • Collaborate with the trading team as well as back office to enhance trading practices and service to customers,
  • Assist and learn in executing trades in strict adherence with compliance and risk management guidelines,
  • Support senior traders in developing and implementing trading strategies / new channels,
  • Monitor market movements and analysis to identify trading opportunities
  • Maintain accurate records of trades, both physical and derivatives,
  • Participate in weekly trading calls and contribute insights based on analysis,
  • Follow up of contracted deliveries and take-up results and operations reports.
  • Generate market, positions and profit and loss reports based on estimates and specialty reports.

Qualifications

To land this role you will need:

  • Trading background and university degree with Economic preferably
  • Fluent English and French, Portuguese/ Brazilian or any other languages is a plus
  • Good knowledge of trading platforms, ideally Fintrade
  • Excellent attention to detail and proactive mindset and team player
  • Good customer service skills and hands-on experience with data management tools and office software programs
  • Able to work and perform within a fast- growing business keeping motivation and contributing to the business expansion and success
  • Travel Required
