Position Overview:

We are seeking an experienced Coffee Trader with a strong track record in selling Green Coffee Beans to destination markets, particularly across Germany. The ideal candidate will have a solid understanding of regional demand dynamics, strong buyer networks, and hands-on experience managing end-to-end trade operations, from contract negotiation to delivery.

This role will focus on green coffee beans from Brazil, East Africa and other regions to German importers, distributors, and roasters

 

This role can be based in either Lausanne, Switzerland or Hamburg, Germany

Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities:

  • Identify and develop new sales opportunities in destination markets, particularly in Germany.
  • Manage and grow a portfolio of clients.
  • Negotiate commercial contracts including pricing, payment terms, incoterms, and delivery schedules.
  • Coordinate closely with logistics, operations, and finance teams to ensure timely and cost-effective execution.
  • Monitor regional market trends, political risks, regulatory developments, and competitor activity.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of freight, FX, and hedging strategies relevant to green coffee beans exports to the regions.
  • Ensure compliance with international trade regulations, quality standards, and client specifications.
  • Represent the company at trade fairs, exhibitions, and client meetings as needed.

Qualifications

To land this role you will need:

  • Minimum 5 years of trading green coffee beans into Germany.
  • Proven success in selling coffee to the German market.
  • Strong network of buyers and market intelligence in target regions.
  • Excellent understanding of commodity trading principles, including incoterms, trade finance (LCs, SBLCs), and risk management.
  • Familiarity with shipping and documentation requirements for destination markets.
  • Strong negotiation, analytical, and communication skills.
  • Proficiency in English and German; additional languages (e.g., French, Arabic, Portuguese) are an asset.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Economics, Agriculture, or related field.

Preferred Attributes:

  • Willingness to travel frequently to client locations.
  • Experience working in multicultural business environments.
  • Entrepreneurial mindset with the ability to work independently and under pressure.
  • Background in trading houses, roasters, or international commodity firms is preferred.

  • Competitive base salary + performance-based bonus/commission.
