Commercial: With boots on the ground authenticity at the heart of everything we do, our comprehensive array of commercial products and services enable you to work directly with our clients, across hedging, risk management, execution and clearing, OTC products, commodity finance and more.  

 

 

We are seeking an experienced Sugar Trader with a strong track record in selling Brazilian sugar to destination markets, particularly across Africa and the Middle East. The ideal candidate will have a solid understanding of regional demand dynamics, strong buyer networks, and hands-on experience managing end-to-end trade operations, from contract negotiation to delivery.

This role will focus on white/refined and/or raw sugar sales to local importers, government agencies, distributors, and industrial buyers in the target regions.

Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities:

  • Identify and develop new sales opportunities in destination markets, particularly in Africa and the Middle East.
  • Manage and grow a portfolio of clients including importers, government tenders, food processors, and wholesalers.
  • Negotiate commercial contracts including pricing, payment terms, incoterms, and delivery schedules.
  • Coordinate closely with logistics, operations, and finance teams to ensure timely and cost-effective execution.
  • Monitor regional market trends, political risks, regulatory developments, and competitor activity.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of freight, FX, and hedging strategies relevant to sugar exports to the regions.
  • Ensure compliance with international trade regulations, quality standards, and client specifications.
  • Represent the company at trade fairs, exhibitions, and client meetings as needed.

Qualifications

To land this role you will need:

  • Minimum 5 years of trading experience in soft commodities, preferably sugar.
  • Proven success in selling sugar to African and Middle Eastern markets.
  • Strong network of buyers and market intelligence in target regions.
