Position Purpose: We are seeking a Senior DevOps Engineer with deep experience in managing streaming ecosystems (Kafka/Redpanda) in production environments. You will be responsible for designing, deploying, and operating our Redpanda-based streaming platform running on Kubernetes in Azure, ensuring scalability, reliability, and performance across mission-critical systems. This role requires strong expertise in cloud-native operations, observability, and infrastructure-as-code practices, as well as a passion for automation and operational excellence.

Primary duties will include:

• Own the Redpanda/Kafka ecosystem: Deploy, upgrade, and maintain clusters on Kubernetes in Azure.
• Build automation pipelines for provisioning, scaling, and monitoring streaming infrastructure.
• Optimize performance and reliability of message streaming services to support high-throughput, low-latency workloads.
• Implement observability: Configure metrics, logging, tracing, and alerting for Redpanda/Kafka and related components.
• Ensure security and compliance: Apply best practices for secrets management, RBAC, encryption, and network policies in Kubernetes and Azure.
• Collaborate with developers and data teams to support streaming use cases, schema management, and integration patterns.
• Disaster recovery & resilience: Design and test failover, backup, and recovery strategies.
• Drive continuous improvement: Identify bottlenecks, propose architectural enhancements, and champion best practices.

To land this role you will need:

• 5+ years in DevOps, SRE, or Platform Engineering roles.
• Expertise with Redpanda or Apache Kafka in production environments.
• Strong Kubernetes experience (AKS preferred), including Helm, Operators, and custom resources.
• Hands-on with cloud services (networking, storage, monitoring, IAM).
• Proficiency with infrastructure as code (Ansible, Terraform or similar).
• Strong experience with CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions, Azure DevOps, ArgoCD, etc.).
• Experience with monitoring/observability stacks (Prometheus, Grafana, OpenTelemetry, ELK/EFK).
• Solid understanding of networking, security, and scalability in distributed systems.
• Programming/scripting skills (Python, Go, Bash, or similar).

What makes you stand out:  

• Experience with Schema Registry or Protobuf/Avro integration.
• Knowledge of event-driven architectures and streaming design patterns.
• Exposure to networking in Kubernetes.
• Familiarity with high-throughput financial or real-time systems.
• Strong troubleshooting and root cause analysis in complex distributed environments.
