Responsibilities

Position Purpose: The Scrum Master will be responsible for facilitating the agile development process across multiple teams working on diverse technology stacks within StoneX Enterprise IT. The role will involve supporting development, ensuring the timely and effective delivery of projects while fostering a culture of continuous improvement. The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of agile methodologies and will work closely with product owners, stakeholders, and team members to remove roadblocks, manage risks, and guide the teams to deliver high-quality solutions aligned with business needs.

 

Primary duties will include: 

  • Facilitate Agile Processes:
    • Guide and coach development teams in the effective use of Scrum, Kanban, or other agile frameworks as appropriate for the team’s needs and projects.
    • Ensure the organization and facilitation of Scrum events, making sure that these meetings are well-structured and effective in driving team progress
  • Improve Teams Collaboration:
    • Work closely with project managers, product owners, architects, and developers to ensure alignment on sprint goals and project deliverables
    • Coordinate work across multiple teams working on different technology stacks, ensuring that dependencies are managed and risks are mitigated.
    • Ensure effective collaboration within the team and with external teams and stakeholders.
  • Impediment Removal:
    • Identify and help the teams overcome obstacles that could hinder their progress.
    • Escalate risks and issues when necessary and drive to resolution in a timely manner.
  • Maintain a data-driven focus, ensuring that decisions and improvements are guided by relevant metrics and insights to enhance team effectives and outcomes.
    • Track and report on team performance metrics such as velocity, sprint progress, and delivery cadence.
    • Ensure that teams utilize the Agile Management Tool (Jira) in a manner that supports smooth delivery and maintains a transparent process, providing clear visibility of the backlog to all stakeholders.
  • Continuous Improvement:
    • Foster a culture of continuous learning and improvement by encouraging retrospection, suggesting process improvements, and promoting best practices in agile methodologies.
    • Encourage teams to experiment, learn from failures, and adopt a growth mindset.
  • Stakeholder Management:
    • Serve as a point of contact between teams and Core IT leadership, ensuring that leadership and stakeholders are informed of project progress, risks, and blockers.
    • Support product owners in backlog prioritization and communication of business goals to the team.
  • Agile Training and Mentorship:
    • Train and mentor team members and stakeholders on agile practices and the Scrum framework.
    • Advocate for agile best practices across StoneX Enterprise IT to support the broader organizational adoption of agile methodologies.

Qualifications

To land this role you will need:

  • 3+ years of experience as a Scrum Master or Agile Coach, supporting multiple agile teams in a fast-paced development environment.
  • Strong practical experience with Scrum and Kanban methodologies.
  • Hands-on experience with Jira, Confluence, or similar agile project management tools.
  • Excellent facilitation, communication, and leadership skills, with the ability to guide teams to self-organize and foster collaboration.
  • Experience in tracking and reporting key agile metrics such as velocity, burndown charts, and cycle time, and using these to drive team performance.
  • Good understanding of modern software development lifecycles.
  • Proven ability to identify impediments and risks, remove roadblocks, and drive issue resolution.
  • Experience working with a variety of stakeholders across different functions, including product owners, IT leadership, and technical team members.

What makes you stand out: 

  • Prior experience in managing cross-team dependencies and aligning multiple teams to a shared goal within a matrixed environment.
  • Certified ScrumMaster (CSM) or equivalent certification (PSM, PMI-ACP).
  • Experience working in financial services or a similarly regulated industry.
  • Familiarity with modern development technologies and processes including cloud platforms (Azure), CI/CD pipelines (Azure DevOps Pipelines, GitHub Actions), microservices architecture, and containerization concepts (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes). While not a technical role, knowledge of this areas is necessary to communicate effectively with development teams and stakeholders.
  • Knowledge of Lean methodologies and experience promoting a culture of continuous improvement.
  • Strong human skills, including leadership and servant leadership, the ability to give and receive feedback, facilitation skills, coaching, and conflict resolution expertise.
