As the Lead Security Engineer, you be responsible for providing oversight and supervision of the security engineers.  You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to design, develop, and implement robust security solutions and infrastructure. Your role will be critical in safeguarding the organization's systems, networks, and data against potential threats and vulnerabilities.

 

Responsibilities

  • Lead a team of security engineers, providing guidance, mentorship, and fostering a culture of continuous learning and professional development. Set performance expectations, provide feedback, and foster a positive and productive work environment. Ensure the teams are equipped with the necessary skills and resources to deliver high-quality security engineering services.
  • Take a leadership role and actively engage in security team meetings, steering discussions that focus on the development and implementation of secure design principles. Encourage collaboration and innovative thinking among team members to enhance security measures across projects.
  • Oversee the implementation of security solutions, tools, and technologies to protect the organization's assets and data. This includes evaluating and selecting appropriate security products, managing vendor relationships, and overseeing the integration of security controls into the organization's infrastructure.
  • Monitor and evaluate the performance of the security engineering function against established goals and key performance indicators (KPIs). Will need to prepare and present reports on security engineering performance, progress, and achievements to senior management and stakeholders.
  • Strive to improve operational efficiency and effectiveness within the security engineering function. Identify areas for process improvement, streamline workflows, and implement strategies to optimize productivity and quality of work.
  • Work in partnership with external vendors and service providers to evaluate their security capabilities and ensure the organization's security requirements are met. Manage relationships with security vendors and participate in contract negotiations.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders, including IT teams, product development teams, and senior management, to provide input on design and architecture of secure systems, networks, and infrastructure. Aid in the review of security standards, best practices, and architectural frameworks to guide secure design and development efforts.

 

Qualifications

To land this role you will need:

 

You need to have a history of being self-motivated and capable of solving problems with minimal oversight. The ability to learn quickly and retain information is key to being successful in this role. You have strong experience working in a competitive, fast-paced, highly technical environment, ideally in the Financial Services Industry. 

 

  • Extensive experience in security engineering, including designing and implementing security solutions in complex environments.
  • Strong leadership and people management skills, with the ability to inspire and develop a high-performing team.
  • In-depth knowledge of security principles, best practices, and industry standards.
  • Proficiency in security architecture design and risk assessment methodologies.
  • Experience with security technologies, including firewalls, intrusion detection systems, endpoint protection, encryption, etc.
  • Familiarity with regulatory requirements, such as GDPR, CCPA, HIPAA, etc.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to assess and respond to security incidents effectively.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate and influence stakeholders at all levels of the organization.

Education / Certification Requirements: 

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in computer science, information security, or a related field.
  • Relevant certifications such as CISSP, CISM, or other industry-recognized security certifications are preferred.

 

Working environment:

  • Hybrid, three days in office.
