Position Purpose: We are seeking a talented and experienced Linux Engineer to join our IT team. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing, implementing, and managing Linux-based systems and servers to ensure high availability and performance. This role requires a deep understanding of Linux operating systems, networking, and security best practices.

Responsibilities

Primary duties will include:

  • Design, install, configure, and maintain Linux servers and systems.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex issues in Linux environments.
  • Collaborate with other IT professionals to design and implement efficient IT solutions.
  • Monitor system performance, and implement performance tuning strategies.
  • Ensure system security through the implementation of best practices and regular security audits.
  • Automate routine tasks using scripting or other automation tools.
  • Provide technical support and guidance to other IT staff and end-users.
  • Document system configurations, procedures, and changes.
  • Participate in on-call rotation for 24/7 support as required.
  • Stay current with emerging technologies and industry best practices.
  • Conduct disaster recovery drills to ensure data integrity and availability.

Qualifications

To land this role you will need:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.
  • 4-6 years of experience in Linux system administration and engineering.
  • Extensive knowledge of Linux operating systems, particularly Red Hat, CentOS, or Ubuntu
  • Strong experience with server virtualization technologies, such as VMware, KVM, or Xen.
  • Experience with configuration management tools such as Ansible, Puppet, or Chef.
  • Proficiency in scripting languages such as Bash, Python, or Go-lang.
  • Strong understanding of networking protocols and services (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, LDAP, etc.).
  • Experience with cloud platforms like AWS, or Azure is a plus.
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Systems Performance tuning
  • Strong communication and documentation skills.

Working environment: 

  • Hybrid (2 days from home, 3 days from the office); our Cracow office will be moved to St. Mogilska 35 in May, 2024
